Would have loved to have seen the house and not just the museum

点评：My mum wanted to see the old town of Vegueta and I thought it might be nice to show her the house of one of the foremost Spanish writers, and I even bought her a copy of Doña Perfecta to read first, so that she appreciated the visit more.
However, when we visited there were no guided tours (at least, no one mentioned any while we were there) and the house itself wasn't accessible, so we had to make do with a few exhibits about Galdos' life, which wasn't the point of the visit for us. There seemed to be other areas of the museum that were maybe for educational tours but they were roped off as well.
What little we could see was interesting but we left wanting more, especially as we were anticipating being able to see his historical house as it would have been in Galdos' time, and all we managed was a glimpse of a courtyard through a window.
But the security guys were pleasant and entry was free so it was an interesting use of about 20 minutes. Just a shame that it could have been much more and we would have loved to have had the experience that many of the reviewers have had.
