点评:Khan Shatyr is, in essence, basically a very nice shopping centre/mall. However, it is more. It is an iconic building for the new capital of Astana, built at one end of the showcase central axis of the new city. It has a striking architectural style inside and out, resulting from the fact that it is "the world's largest tent" since the main structure is essentially a permanent tent-like structure. This gives it a unique look and feel not only inside but outside. It has a standard shopping-centre range of shops and eateries inside, but a large range and generally quite nice. It also has entertainment facilities like an artificial swimming beach upstairs (entrance by paying a fee), and rides, the main one being a mini "monorail" which skirts the edges of the upper floor over the middle of the place, with a nice view over the shopping area, and small replica dioramas of some famous cities like London and Istanbul, but also Astana itself. We spent a couple hours here in one afternoon, and then walked back down the NurZhol Blvd to our hotel near Baiterek Tower.
