点评:My late father & me have collected Staffordshire pottery for many years. Daddy collected figurines, I focussed on Susie Cooper, Clarice Cliff & Art Deco Grays. My family laugh at me when we eat out & I can't help turning the plates over to see where they came from. Am always happy to see the 'Dudson' back mark on a plate & can't resist reminding them of the history of Dudson's pots.
I took my daddy for a visit to SOT in 'homage' to our shared love of pots & ceramics.
One of the places we visited was this museum - what a gem! Would totally recommend it as a place to visit - what an innovative way to make use of one of the few bottle ovens left in SOT. My father had a girlfriend who lived in Hanley in the very early 1950's & remembers the whole town being a sea of bottle ovens & the sky line red with the firing of pots. Regretfully, so few left now.
Also so few of the old potteries still in business.
