Heggs Farm的点评
点评：This July will be my 3rd year at Heggs and I hope many more will follow.
The work that Liz and the volunteers have done to plant new trees and generally transform the landscape is nothing short of amazing - they planted so many trees in-between my 1st and 2nd visit I don't know how they've done it!
Reason why I love this place... the peace, the wildlife and the locals...
Peace because in my case I was with just my dog and my books - phone signal is patchy so mine remained off which meant truly switching off and got through many many books and even managed to teach my pup a few new tricks!
The wildlife because I was lucky enough to see a family of deer run across where I camped, everyday. It was like watching Bambi without the sad bits. You also have wonderful birds and sheep making visits.
The Locals because everyone from the walkers to the locals in the pubs are super friendly. The Walkers who stop for a chin wag are sometimes regulars who have some really interesting local info on Heggs and also the abandoned farm house on the trek to Reeth. The local pubs in Reeth are really friendly; The Kings Arms give you a dog bowl of treats on arrivals, The Black Bull is full of friendly locals and fellow tourists and The Bridge Inn does lovely food and ale. Also highly recommended is the Dales Bike Centre for breakfast / coffee. I've kept my walks to Reeth but will try the opposite direction this year.
Liz is a brilliant host, the first year when I turned up with all the camping gear but no idea, she gave me a map and helped with my bags to / from Reeth where I parked my car, pointed me in the direction of the best places to set up camp and in both years provided camping provisions inc. water, cooking and washing up equipment.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to switch off, chill out and enjoy life unplugged.
