点评:It was a completely impromptu adventure for us. When my wife and I visited Cheget, climbed the eponymous peak (a ski lift ride), and went down in mid-August, we discovered that we still had a lot of time before returning to Vladikavkaz and decided to hit the road to Chegem waterfalls. The only way there was through the Aktoprak Pass.
That was a great cross-country ride! The gravel road was quite bearable; panoramas around were mind-blowing; free-wheeling cattle looked well-groomed and corpulent, while people were nowhere to be seen. And no wi-fi!
Frankly speaking, we were lucky. The weather was beautiful, but when we reached the falls down there, it appeared that there had just passed a terrible storm with quail egg-sized hail there that provoked numerous mudflows. I imagined our car smack dab in the middle of that pandemonium up in the mountains and shuddered...
So, do check the weather forecasts before climbing up there.
