点评：Playa Blanca on Isla Barú in Cartagena can feel like a scam for tourists.
Once you get out of the taxi or bus, you are constantly watched and followed. People try to sell you different things all the time.
We wanted to use sunbeds, and they told us that if we ordered food and drinks, the sunbeds would be free. Otherwise, they would cost 120,000 COP.
When we chose the cheapest fish on the menu, they said it wasn’t available. After we ordered a fish for 65,000 COP, they suggested getting one for 75,000 COP instead, saying it had fewer bones.
The whole time, we had a “personal waiter” that we never asked for. He made us uncomfortable by standing next to us constantly.
When the bill came, it was 375,000 COP for food and drinks, and the waiter added 80,000 COP for his service (about 21%), even though we never agreed to it.
On top of that, they tried to charge us again for the sunbeds. We told them that wasn’t part of the deal. Around us, there were four different men telling us different “rules.”
Eventually, the owner came. The waiter removed the 80,000 COP service charge, but the owner still added a 15% tax. We didn’t want to argue any further, so we paid.
After paying, we double-checked everything and just wanted to leave without being followed.
