A Unique and Extensive Olive Oil Tasting You Won’t Want to Miss in Naxos

点评：One of the highlights of our trip to Naxos, and by far one of the most unique and extensive olive oil tasting experiences we’ve ever had!
We visited Ergostasio Olive Mill after a beautiful hike between Chalki and Moni, where we walked through olive groves and saw citron trees. Stopping at Ergostasio for an olive oil tasting was the perfect way to end our hike and continue exploring the local flavors and traditions of Naxos. We opted for the short tour and tasting, which was very reasonably priced and packed an impressive amount of information and variety into just 30 minutes.
The tour itself was fascinating! We learned some really interesting history, including how the olive mill played a role in bringing electricity to Naxos and its connection to the island’s citron distillery. But the tasting was the real standout and what made this experience so special.
Unlike a typical olive oil tasting, this one was incredibly varied and interactive. We started by sampling olive oils from different regions across Greece, which was a great way to appreciate how the flavor of olive oil can change depending on where it’s produced. We then got to try a range of infused olive oils paired with different foods, with the citron-infused olive oil being our favorite! We also sampled some wonderfully unique olive spreads before finishing with olive oil cake.
The variety of flavors and ways to experience olive oil made this tasting feel much more like a culinary experience than a traditional tasting. Of course, we couldn’t leave without taking home some amazing olive oil!
This is such a unique, informative, and delicious experience, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Naxos, especially those interested in local food and traditional Greek products.
