点评:I am a big fan of Portishead Open Air Pool. Living in Bristol its nice to go and cool off in the summer. I have been going each year between May and September for 2 years now and I love it. I didnt go in August as I was away alot so going back for this heatwave was something I had been looking forward too. I dont mind having to pre book as it saves disappointment of turning up to a full pool and then being turned away. That being said i was shocked to see a sign at the entrance titled “Busy Day Procedure”. I wont type it all out so please have a look at the photo I took of it. Basically when the pool hits capacity you have 20 minutes until a whistle is blown and everyone gets out and has to queue to get back in.
This doesnt really make sense because the pool is pre booked online in advance so those running the pool know its capacity so why is there a need for a busy day procedure? This feels like “we oversold again so we have this in place because we dont want to just sell to capacity as we are already used to over selling” if this is the case then dont over sell. Simple as. I was in the pool today and had planned to be in the entire swim session however at 15:00 the tannoy came on to announce the busy day procedure is in place and we had 20 minutes until we all had to leave the pull and queue to get back in. Some families ended up being split up either because parents or kids had left the pool seconds before this procedure was put in place meaning they could not return to the pool and had to wait by the chain for 20 minutes. This left families distraught and ended up with them leaving the pool and area all together. Not to mention we were only given 10 minutes in the pool at 15:00 so I also left and went home. I dont pay to be told to leave every 20 minutes to re queue in the boiling hot weather all because the pool oversold their tickets. This needs to be reevaluated because its not ideal.
