点评:I’ve visited Innisfree Garden many times over the years and always considered it one of the Hudson Valley’s hidden treasures — but my most recent visit was deeply disappointing. The garden has clearly fallen into serious disrepair.
The iconic channel bridge has been closed for over a year, cutting off one of the most beautiful parts of the property and breaking up what was once a seamless walking experience. There’s been no visible progress or communication about when it might reopen.
The water features, which used to be the soul of the garden, are now in poor condition — algae, low water levels, and broken pumps have left several areas stagnant and uninviting. The ponds and streams that once shimmered now look murky and unkempt.
Even the general landscape maintenance has gone downhill. Overgrown paths, dead plants, and weedy borders make it feel more like an abandoned park than the carefully composed “living landscape painting” it was meant to be.
It’s heartbreaking to see such a special place decline like this. Unless the garden invests in serious upkeep soon, I can’t recommend visiting — especially given the steep admission price.
