The Canadian Canoe Museum的点评
点评：All the years we have been visiting in Peterborough, and we never got to the original Canoe Museum, so thought we should see this one. The new building on their Lakefront Campus at Little Lake, on the traditional territory of the Williams Treaties First Nations, is really lovely. It is home to the world’s largest collection of canoes, kayaks and paddled watercraft - over 600, with over 100 on display in the Exhibition Hall. In addition to the watercraft are paddles, and other small artifacts, and many interactive audio, visual and hands-on displays. I found the Indigenous collection to be the most interesting with vintage dugout canoes, birchbark canoes, kayaks from around North America, as well as craft from around the world. There are also modern canoes of all sorts, competition canoes and famous canoes. The Collection Hall holds the watercraft not on display, but you can see them through large atrium and mezzanine windows. There is a lakefront events and education centre for workshops of all sorts, and there are even canoes and kayaks for rent. There is a lovely little café with an interesting menu and a gift shop. All w/c accessible, washrooms, and lots of parking, most of it across the street. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
