Small harbour, mainly used by holiday ferries

点评：Thursday 13th June this was the first of our two visits to this small harbour. Initially we were here to catch our ferry, Nissos Halki to the island of Halki.
Also known as Skala Kamirou it is located on the west coast of Rhodes. It main function, during the tourist season, is that ferry services operate from here sailing to and from the nearby holiday island of Halki.
Throughout the year it is used by small fishing boats, it provides a safe haven for the boats as it is well protected by the harbour wall.
When we were here there was a large cargo vessel being unloaded on to the quay, we assumed it was supplies for the nearby fish farm
There are two Tavernas here, but not much else, Althemenis and Loukas Fish Taverna, they both sit on top of hill overlooking the harbour. The road down to the Quay passes between the two tavernas.
Althemenis overlooks a small sandy pebbled beach while Loukas has the remains of a Lycian Tomb in the car park nearby.
There are a couple of ferry ticket kiosks along the quay as well as a ramshackled Port Authority building.
It is not a very large Quay, but it is usually lined with some tour buses, taxi and other vehicles which are waiting to collect or drop off ferry passengers.
Just before sailing in or out of the harbour, visitors can see along the coastline the restored castle of Kritinia standing on a hill.
We were back here again 26th June where we picked up our taxi transfer back to Rhodes Town and eventually the airport.
