点评:This was a really interesting site. We visited as a small tour from the cruise ship, Borealis. We were ferried over by tender and we met a Guide who was very good as he was local and had an excellent knowledge of the site and area and answered all our questions about Greenlandic life eloquently.
We saw a reconstruction of the site where Erik the red had stayed. The buildings gave a great insight to how life was like back in the day. The displays in the long house were really impressive.
There were also original ruins of the buildings. Considering their age they were well preserved.
We visited the local Church and also learned about farming in the area. Only 9 families live there, a harsh environment to live in. The farms keep special breeds of sheep and cattle to cope with the environment.
Interesting to see bales of hay rolled in the fields ready for storage.
An impressive visit to this isolated area.
Many thanks to our excellent Guide.
