点评:The 15th century Javanese-Hindu temple was nestled on the slope of Mount Lawu. Rather steep drive to get there. We have to wear their provided sarong if a visitor’s clothing did not cover the knees. Not much to see upon arrival except lots of steps. First thing you see was an architectural gate made of stone, a triangle shape split into halves. Once you walked up around 30 steps through this first gate, the view opened up to the entire temple complex. Beyond were walled off terrace each with the same set of gates. Lots and lots of stone statues. After ascending the second to the final set of steps, one encounters smoking incense shrines for blessings. There was a sign at the very top level to remove shoes in order to go up and explore further. A view of the aligned gates down through the terraces was visually imposing.
