点评：This is a varied and at times challenging walk that can be broken down into segments .My start was at Kilchattan bay after taking the bus from Rothesay pier when we did the walk to St Blanes chapel via the south end of the island which gives terrific views but it’s a rough and hard path and at times very muddy .We lunched at the Kingarth Hotel and then on across the top of the island to Rothesay and onto Port Bannantyne -again this can be very muddy but the views are terrific .On day two we did the last section to Rhubodach (crossing of the old man) -this is quite easy to follow but the road gives way to a muddy path in the middle so be prepared .You carry on along a clearly marked forest trail and end at the ferry where if required u can cross to the Colintraive hotel which is good for food .Buses run from Rhubodach to Rothesay but they are infrequent or onwards to Dunoon ( Colintraive side) where you can return to Glasgow .We did the whole thing on public transport via Wemyss Bay with Scotrail and it’s not expensive and used the bus on the island .The last section we did was back on foot to Port Bannantyne but that’s a long walk at the end of a strenuous day .The island is lovely but it’s a harder walk than u might think
