To finally set our footpaths on this divine earth, intimately connected with Lord Krishna's lila, was a blessing beyond measure. The sight of Govardhan, even from a distance, evoked a profound sense of peace and reverence. This was truly a moment of spiritual fulfillment, a long-cherished dream come true.
We are at the land Lord Krishna lifting this very hill to protect his beloved devotees from the wrath of Indra, and our hearts swelled with gratitude for His boundless compassion.
However, in the spirit of truth and to ensure that future pilgrims can truly experience the unadulterated divinity of Govardhan, it is imperative to share a word of caution.
While the spiritual experience was undeniably profound, certain aspects marred the otherwise blessed journey, particularly for foreign devotees.
We encountered what can only be described as blatant exploitation. An e-rickshaw ride for the 22km Parikrama was quoted and charged at an exorbitant INR 3500, a sum that felt like daylight robbery. It was a disheartening reminder that even in such sacred places, unscrupulous individuals can prey on the trust and devotion of pilgrims.
We felt deeply cheated by our guide and the e-rickshaw driver, and this unfortunate incident cast a shadow on an otherwise blissful experience.
