点评:Monday 28th April we visited Lyme Regis, we were here to see the elephant statues sited in the Town as part of the Stampede on the Coast trail.
We parked up in the Charmouth Road car park, slightly out of town, climbed down the steps from there to the Church Cliff Walk.
As we walked along the pathway we passed this staute in tribute to Mary Anning, Paleontologist and Fossil Collector.
Since we were here last in August 2023 a new information board has been erected nearby on the seafront wall. It gives details about the Jurassic Coast and Mary Anning's life.
As we continued our search for the statues, we came across one outside the Jubilee Pavilion, on the coastal pathway, dedicated to Mary.
The picture painted on the statue depicts Mary selling sea shells from a beach kiosk. We also learnt that the tongue twister, "she sells sea shells along the seashore" is about Mary Anning.
