Tailor Made tour of Manas, Kaziranga, Sundarbans and Ranthambore National Parks. Expectations fully met.

点评：Deepti Goswami was one of the tour guides on a tiger safari tour years ago of five tiger reserves. This trip included visits to Manas and Kaziranga National Parks in Assam, the Sundarbans in Bengal and Ranthambore.
The main attraction in Manas and Kaziranga is the Indian One-horned Rhinoceros, and we saw plenty of them, including being chased out of Manas by one. There was a wide variety of animals and birdlife in both. Although there are around 60 tigers in Manas they are rarely seen and in Kaziranga there are over 100 and we were lucky enough to see two of them, including one close up. Kaziranga is an attractive park with plenty of variety.
It was my choice to go to Sundarbans as it is the biggest mangrove forest in the world and all viewing is by boat. However, sightings of the tigers is rare as they can only be seen when they come on to the beaches. We spent four days looking for five tigers that live on an island but they failed to appear - although they were seen on the following day! There was very little other wildlife that we saw, so this was disappointing. However, the food provided on the boat and the expertise of our local guides was superb.
The local guide and driver in Ranthambore and the bookings in the zones had been secured long in advance and paid off with some spectacular tiger sightings. On the first safari in zone 3 we saw two cubs, one coming to within 10 metres of our Gypsy (jeep). This was my closest encounter with a tiger to date.
In nine safaris we saw tigers on eight occasions, with around twenty sightings of ten tigers, including one where the tiger was following us as we were trying to keep our distance. Included in our sightings was one rarely seen tiger that only two Gypsys witnessed. On our final safari we saw a mother Sloth Bear and cub going along a valley and then crossing the path.
The accommodation at all locations was very good, although the Sundarbans lodge wasn't fully in operation yet. We travelled internally by taxi and a couple of flights.
Our guide, Deepti Goswami, had organized the holiday and it all went very smoothly with no problems. There was a lot of laughter as we were having such a good time. I look forward to going back again before too long to see some more tiger reserves with Deepti.
