点评:If a history buff, you can easily spend the full day here. But even just casually interested in the origin of our country, you will enjoy this! The NPS as always does an excellent job in documenting and preserving our heritage. The movie is especially good at setting the scene and helping visitors to understand the global nature of the conflict and how Washington and his French allies were able to change the course of history forever. The driving tour is very informative, but might be confusing if you didn't visit the Visitor Center first. We did the extended drive through the American and French encampments and that gave a good perspective of just what a broad area was needed for all the troops and equipment. Learning how the huge naval Battle of the Capes cut off the British from supplies and relief was very interesting. Seeing the ground first hand, including the entrenchments and redouts is so much better than reading in a history book. An added bonus on our visit was walking to the historic monument, and walking further into historic Yorktown. The town has so many beautiful restored buildings and its like visiting Williamsburg without the crowds and its FREE. As is the Yorktown Battlefield if you have a National Park Pass.
