点评:We visited the Yorktown Battlefield, managed by the National Park Service, as part of our exploration of the Historic Triangle. It was a meaningful and educational stop, especially after visiting the nearby American Revolution Museum, which helped give us background on what happened here.
The visitor center has a small exhibit area and a short film that gives a solid overview of the Siege of Yorktown. After that, you take a self-guided driving tour around key parts of the battlefield. The loop is scenic and peaceful, with stops marked by signs that explain troop movements, artillery placements, and key events of the final major battle of the Revolutionary War.
That said, this site is best for those who enjoy reading and imagining the history, as there isn’t much in the way of interactive elements or live interpretation. It’s a lot of open fields, so for younger visitors it might not feel very engaging without prior context.
We’re glad we visited—it helped bring a big piece of American history into perspective—but it’s definitely more impactful when paired with the museum or some background reading.
