点评:Loved that this venue is amongst scots pines, which swayed and sussurated along with the music. Appreciated that the theatre has been carefully planned to be as sustainable as possible, though was curious to know how chopping down apparently "coppiced" mature chestnut trees from the site (as must have been necessary to provide so many wonderfully long thick planks for the stage and seating) was sustainable. Loved the wooden composting toilets, smelling deliciously of wood shavings rather than air "freshener." Loved that the bar was so pretty and built with wood like everything else. However, this gorgeous setting was marred by insensitive spot lights in blues (reminded of sizzling bluebottles), pinks and purples, which would be brilliant for a rock venue, but just made the trees look ghastly instead of enhancing them. Whoever designed the lighting seems to have had no concept of adapting the lighting to the trees. Reds, oranges, yellows, clever greens would have been so nice, but more to the point, why on earth were these awful spotlights trained on the audience? In my first position I eventually hid behind a tree to get rid of it, so I didn't see the singer. Surely the spotlights should have been trained on the stage or the trees? The really memorable outdoor venues are always beautifully lit. Not the case here.
