Manistee National is an absolute gem
Manistee National Golf & Resort的点评
点评：I recently returned from a four night stay at Manistee National Golf and Resort. We were a party of 26 Canadians that have patronized the establishment each year for the past 4 - 5. This was my first time visiting however.
I hope this review entices others to spend their vacation dollar at Manistee because overall, it was a great experience.
Let’s start with the resort:
It is a 42 room hotel. The common areas have been recently updated. The lounge is the onsite small restaurant (there is the larger Grille in the clubhouse of the ‘Retreat’ golf course). The first night, all 26 of us enjoyed an exceptional meal of wood - fired oven pizza (delicious) and chicken wings (equally as delicious). The complimentary breakfast was also quite good. The staple items of cereal, yogurt, croissants and even pancakes and waffles were excellent and provided some quality sustenance prior to our 36 hole rounds of golf.
The room I stayed in was a standard two queen bed space. Each room had a small fridge in it. I like how the vanity was apart from the actual bathroom and shower. All in all, the rooms were good (not spectacular) and just what we needed after a day on the courses.
The pool and hot tub on site were perfect for all of us. Both were clean and had ample room for us to lounge in before, between and after our rounds.
We ate two of our dinners at The Grille in the clubhouse. The beef short rib dinner I had on the first night was exceptional. My salmon dinner the second night was equally as good. Service in the restaurant was also excellent. We were treated like family by the staff there.
The resort also has numerous ‘cottages’ that you could rent. Across the highway and butting up against The Revenge are 5 or 6 gorgeous, brand new cottages with more being built this summer. I looked at the brochure that detailed all of the amenities in the cottages and they look impressive to say the least.
Overall, the resort side of the ‘property’ was quite impressive.
Golf:
Here is where the ‘property’ at Manistee really shone.
There are two courses here; the older (and more golfer friendly imo) course is called The Retreat. This course was on the same side of the road as the hotel itself. The course winds its way through gorgeous deciduous and pine trees. This place would be spectacular in the autumn months.
On the other side of the highway (and do not worry, this place has thought of everything and there is a tunnel that conveniently runs under the road) is The Revenge. If you want a true and difficult test of golf, then this is the course you would enjoy. Sloped at 149 from the Black tees, The Revenge is one of the most difficult courses in the entire state of MI. We all enjoyed The Revenge but be aware, it is a difficult test (aka. make sure your golf bag has at least a dozen balls in it).
The short course there is only a few years old and was built on the same side of the highway as The Revenge. Please note that this is the antithesis of what some would refer to as a nice little warmup course before you tackle the full length, 18 hole courses on property. It is the most fun nine holes of golf (but diabolical at the same time) I have played in years. Trust me, when you’re onsite for a few days of golf, you MUST experience this masterpiece; just go into it with realistic expectations. It is anything but simple!!!
The General Manager is named Kirsten and she went above and beyond to ensure that we all had a good time. She was present and her interactions with our party were always positive. In fact, she seems to be the epitome of all of the employees under her scope.
Overall, I really enjoyed my four night stay at Manistee National. There are numerous golf resorts that we all can choose from. However, Manistee National should be at the top of your list.

这家度假村还提供众多可供租赁的“小木屋”。在高速公路对面，紧邻The Revenge酒店的地方有5、6栋崭新漂亮的小木屋，今年夏天还将有更多小木屋落成。我看了介绍小木屋内各种设施的宣传册，至少可以说这些设施给人留下了深刻印象。总的来说，这个“度假村”的设施确实相当出色。
