点评：While camping at Smith Mountain Lake State Park, we visited this memorial for an afternoon adventure. We had been 2O years ago and we were blown away by the growth and commitment in creating this incredible place of honor. We took a 90 minute tour with docent Kathy and we were blown away by her presentation and the entire campus. What a beautiful and meaningful way to honor the D Day men and women who lost their lives in their defense of freedom. The statues and symbolism were so moving. Most impressive though was the fact that veterans initiated and continue to support this undertaking. Never underestimate the powers of a veteran. Just amazing. Bring water and wear sunscreen if it’s warm outside and take the tour which comes with the price of your ticket You won’t regret it.
