点评：I have to admit that we didn't visit the Arboretum to look at the trees. We tried to appear interested as the very helpful lady in the office explained about the trees in the various areas, but we were only there for one thing - to see platypus in the wild. We followed her directions to the lake, stepped onto a small bridge and almost immediately spotted a platypus. This was around 11.30 in the morning, in broad daylight. Out on the lake there were more, which could be seen coming to the surface. There is a narrow, shallow channel between two islands in the lake and you could see the trail where they were digging up the bottom with their bill, looking for food, then come to the surface. It was magnificent. We spent over an hour just wandering around the lake, watching the wildlife.
It costs just $10 to visit the Arboretum - an absolute bargain in my opinion. If you want to see platypus in Australia, visit the Tasmanian Arboretum.
