点评：Our visit to this place turned out to be the worst experience we had in Sri Lanka, and it was due to poor research and misplaced trust in hotel-arranged guide.
We originally intended to visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a well-known rescue and conservation center. However, despite clearly informing our guide to take us there, he led us to a different elephant center located in Pinnawala—one that clearly seemed to be operating for profit rather than animal welfare.
We quickly realized this fact as soon as we entered the place.The place had only five elephants, all in pathetic conditions. We saw visible wounds on their legs, and there were clear signs of mistreatment.
We stayed no longer than 15 minutes before leaving. Immediately afterward, I cancelled the remaining service of the guide I had hired for two days and arranged for a different one for the next day.
