Delicious afternoon tea & lovely staff
Belvoir Castle Gardens的点评
点评：Firstly I want to give the restaurant staff and afternoon tea high praise. We had pre booked 1 standard and 1 gluten free afternoon tea. Both were delicious. A lovely selection of sandwiches, scones with ample cream and jam and a lovely selection of sweet treats! All served with fine china and staff who were attentive yet unobtrusive and provided several refills of our tea pot! I was unable to finish all the goodies so they provided a take home box for me to finish them at home.
The house itself was interesting and some of the rooms were beautiful.
The gardens and grounds were lovely for walking although the map given left us a little confused. We did manage to see most of the highlights. Unfortunately, many of the beds were far from their best, they could do with a little army of volunteers to help clear the weeds and show them off as they deserve. We enjoyed exploring but it would have been better to enjoy it at its best.
All the staff that we met were lovely, friendly and engaging.
The walk up and down to the house was very steep and would need consideration for less able.
The restaurant, toilets and the cafe are located within the house- not a problem if you have house tickets but probably explains why both venues were very quiet despite there being a lot of people visiting the gardens. I think guests without house tickets were permitted to enter but it was not obvious and that would have been off putting. Access to these should be addressed for the benefit of visitors and daily takings of the house. All in all we had a lovely day but there is definite room for improvement.
