点评:I ask Trip Advisor for things to do in KC. This museum was recommended. I also ask friends who live in Kansas what they would recommend. They first said Lewiston Cider Mill and then ask if we like museums. They said the National WW1 Museum was outstanding so with both recommendations, we went there. Outstanding is not even strong enough to describe what we saw. The clear writings and remarkable displays totally captivated our minds. I knew some of the history but this place brings it alive. My Father was born in Germany in 1910 so as a small child he lived this history and I got a whole new understanding of why when he came to America to escape the Hitler era my Dad declared he was an American and was done with Germany. The scope of the carnage, suffering, weapons and bravery of the Allies and then the suffering of the German people that drove them to back Hitler was explained and better understood. This is well worth the visit and cost. We purchased the earphones for $5 and I recommended them because the information given verbally added to the experience. We were in the exhibits about 3 hours, saw a lot but not all. I will add that my Uncle Bill fought in WW1 and survived. He grandson John bought a paver in the sidewalk leading to the Memorial in honor of Bill.
