Pleasurable stay but more could be done to enhance the experience. Mercure is missing trick with this hotel

点评：The trip from Coventry to the Walton Hall Hotel and Spa was horrendous thanks to road closures and HS2 we got lost a few times so don't rely on satnav completely. We actually thought the hotel drive was taking us the wrong way, but no. There is was, set in the most beautiful grounds, the views were amazing. After check in the very helpful guy moved our allocated room from wherever to 206. I have access issues an use a stick and wheelchair. I could have used a ski-lift to get into the bed, but when I did comfortable was not the word.
We booked a table in the restaurant the first evening, it was not much to write home about and decided not to eat our evening meal there again. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice and set us up for the day.
We used the Spa, which I have to say is not at all accessible and no thought has been put in to remedy this. There where three sets of stairs to reach the treatment area. My husband used the pool area and he was happy.
There was a wedding taking place on our first night and I have to say there was no noise penetrating different parts of the hotel. Breakfast the following morning found the restaurant very busy, but the staff coped very well and the were no problems getting either a table or food. This is in itself commendable.
All the staff were efficient, professional and friendly and a credit to the organisation. Not everything was perfect the hotel is in pleasant surroundings, off the beaten track and a lot more could be made of the restaurant. You have a captured audience being served a limited menu of bland pub food.
