Review
We booked a snorkelling trip to Menjangan Island today, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to our expectations. The boat ride to the island was extremely rough, with very high waves. All the water splashed into the small boat, leaving our clothes completely soaked before we even arrived. We weren’t informed about this in advance, so it wasn’t a very relaxing start to the day. Luckily, we managed to dry our clothes a bit on the boat that morning and just left them off for the ride back.
The snorkelling itself was also different from what we expected. We thought we would be snorkelling twice for over an hour each time, but in total, I think we spent about an hour in the water altogether. Lunch was supposed to be on the beach with some time to relax, but the boat just stopped at a tiny strip of sand where there wasn’t really anywhere nice to sit. We quickly ate our nasi goreng there, which was actually very tasty, but it wasn’t the relaxing beach lunch we had imagined.
All in all, coming from Lovina with a travel time of about 1 hour and 15 minutes each way by car, plus two boat rides of about half an hour each, just to snorkel for an hour, didn’t feel worth it for us.
