点评:Let me preface this review by saying I am utterly heartbroken and disappointed. Sesame Place has been a tradition for my family for over 35 years. I first started going as a child in 1990, when the park was relatively new. Now in my late 30s, I have been bringing my own children for several years.
Last year (August 2023), we went to Sesame and were so disappointed that many of the rides were closed - Big Bird's Rambling River, Abby's Fairy Falls, Elmo's Silly Splashy Slides, and Rosita's Seaside Slides - all closed. After driving 4 hours from upstate NY, my kids were really upset. We went to customer service and were told that they were short on lifeguards because so many had returned to college. We were given sunny day tickets to return for free the following year. They also suggested coming in June or July, when staffing would be better.
Fast forward to this year: we arrived on June 30th, left July 2nd. On June 30th (a Sunday), Abby's Fairy Falls (my kids' favorite slides), and Elmo's Silly Splashy Slides were both closed, as were all the slides at Count's castle. Only 1 of 2 slides at Rosita's Seaside Slides were open, so the lines were approximately 45min - 1 hour long. Again, they were upset - we were told by customer service/care that they decided each day which rides would operate based on who showed up for work. None of this is listed on their website; they cover their butts by saying "SELECT water attractions will be open each day." Of course, they charge the same amount to customers. They told me that Monday would probably be better, with more open.
We could see that Elmo's Silly Splashy Slides were bone dry. I don't think that they ever operated last summer, and I don't think they've ever operated this summer. Yet, still listed on their website as an open attraction. They had no idea when/if Abby's Fairy Falls would open. Lifeguards were stationed at each slide...reading books or on their phones...since their only job was to block the entrance.
The park was slated to be open until 9pm, with a 7:45pm parade. There was a brief rain storm around 6pm that quickly passed and the sun came back out. But, due to "inclement weather," they decided to close the park at 7:30pm. The employees seemed elated.
On Monday, July 1st, ALL of the water slides were closed at 10am. Yes, every single water slide in the park was closed. All of the slides at Count's Castle, Rosita's Seaside Slides, Elmo's Surf and Slide (family tube ride). EVERYTHING. Only half of the Lazy River was open. Some of the dry rides were closed, too. Again, my kids were heartbroken. Especially after customer care told us they expected more rides to be open on Monday.
One of the lifeguards spoke with us and candidly told us that no one wants to work because there was a reduction in their rate of pay compared to past seasons. Apparently, the employees are not treated or compensated well. So, all of the lifeguards have been going to other parks.
Because my kids were so bummed, I took them 35 minutes away to The Funplex in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Tons of friendly and happy lifeguards, every single ride was open, no lines, and a much better value. So we were able to salvage the trip...by going to another park. They didn't have any staffing issues there, so I can only conclude that Sesame Place is being very poorly managed and run into the ground.
So, after spending loads of cash including two nights at a local hotel, this is the end for us. To add insult to injury, the park is not well maintained any longer - there's trash everywhere. If you get the opportunity to ride around the lazy river (if it's open) you'll see it - bandaids, wrappers, socks, diapers - everything. Lots of garbage around the rides. Again, you could argue it's difficult to maintain...but the park only 35 minutes away that we visited was immaculate (and also had a lazy river).
So, if you're coming from afar, rethink your choice. If your kids are small and only want the characters, you'll probably have an okay day. But, if your kids are going for the rides and attractions...they may be sorely disappointed.
Count's Castle 的所有滑梯、Rosita's Seaside Slides、Elmo's Surf and Slide(家庭滑道)。
