Turtle Point Batigama的点评
点评：THIS is by far one of the best sightseeing points we were allowed to visit in Sri Lanka, where even the breaking of the waves is a sight worth seeing (fantastic).
A kind well-wisher, Gayan, the leader of "Turtle Point Batigama", along with his kind younger brother and their entire team, have dedicated their lives selflessly to the welfare of sea turtles, even overcoming insane obstacles during their more than 20 years of voluntary service. He showed us pictures of when the rough sea washed away their beautiful shelter, which he found the next day on the other side of the shore. Unfortunately, the government doesn’t much provide the support they truly deserve.
Gayan had planned to show us the release of freshly hatched turtles into the sea, but it wasn’t their time yet. Instead, he arranged for us to witness the release of newborn turtles later that same day at Madiha Beach in Matara (an unforgettable and priceless experience, perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity). He even sent us into the water to observe one turtle that afternoon.
And... everything was free of charge; no one asked for any donation! So, why not give?
Anyone who wishes to make a suitable individual donation to the "Turtle Crew" could greatly help them. "What does 1000 Rupees mean to anyone?". They would wish to purchase a baby care unit for the freshly hatched turtles, giving them a better chance of survival before being released into the sea. (Unfortunately, only 10 out of 1000 survive.)
Gayan, his Brother, their Friends and Friends in Matara made us the entire year, not just a single, beautiful day!
