10/10 Experience. One of the best things we did in our month long indo trip.
Jenie Subaru - Tanjung Puting National Park Tour Organizer的点评
点评：My wife and I booked with Jenie Subaru to see the Orangutans in Tanjung Puting National Park. As we are both wildlife biologists, we had asked specifically for a guide that knew their natural history and able to ID the animals seen. Deny ended up being our guide (@orangudeny) and we couldn't have ask for anyone better. He knew his plants, mammals, insects, birds and pretty much everything else we saw in on our boat trip.
Details:
The boat is very basic. Pretty much a bed with a mosquito net hanging over it. There is a solar panel charge cameras and power a fan, but not much else. It was my wife and I, our guide Deny, two boat captains and the chef. While basic, I was never uncomfortable, the bathroom was clean, food delicious and we felt very well cared for. We saw everything we had hoped to see and more. Orangutans (including a fully wild one), 3 species of ape, pit vipers, a tarsier, vampire bat, super cool insects and multiple species of kingfisher. The food was also INCREDIBLE. It turned out the chef was Deny's mom, so for 3 days we were basically just getting home cooked Indonesian food. Each meal was an absolute feast that featured a fruit or specific dish that we had never had. I can not stress enough how good the cooking was, and it is not an exaggeration to say it was the best food we had all month.
While there are other tour groups that have newer boats with more amenities, I would go with Jenie over anyone else. The service they provided and the fact that the money goes to help conserve and protect land from oil plantation development more than makes up for the lack of anything else. A truly 10/10 experience that I've thought about every day since we left.
