Knowledgable and ethical whale and orca watching

点评：After a few years of being on my ‘bucket list’ I finally made it to Skjervøy thanks to the information and enthusiasm of Steve Truluck at Sea.
We flew to Tromsø before joining the Hurtigruten coastal explorer ship for the 4 hour transfer by sea to Skjervøy.
The next day we joined our first trip out with guide and skipper Torleif and Cnut on a comfortable boat with inside and outside seating.
Once we spotted our first orca they were literally everywhere we looked. The orca were joined by humpbacks.
In total throughout the trip I estimate 50+ orca and 10 humpbacks.
Our hosts were extremely knowledgeable and respectful of the wildlife whilst also ensuring the guests all got to see.
We always kept our distance but were lucky to be approached my many animals who passed right next to our stationary boat.
Dervola stand out from the other operators by their ethical approach, a longer trip (4 hours) allowing us longer with the animals and also having enclosed areas on the boat which meant you keep warmer.
I also observed other operators actively approaching the animals at a close distance.
