Unforgettable day on Crete with Vangelis

点评：We spent an unforgettable day exploring Crete with Vangelis from Strata Tours. (I was very excited to meet him, as we had taken a similar tour with his Dad, Stelios, six years ago.) Vangelis’ warm and engaging personality captivated us, and we so appreciated that he shared many details about his life on Crete, especially about harvesting the olives in the early winter, social life for young people, Greek weddings, etc. It was like spending the day with a friend. We learned so much more from Vangelis than we ever could from a guidebook. After visiting an olive oil mill, we had a Cretan cooking class in a small traditional restaurant. Vangelis translated for us and cooked alongside us. We also visited his family home (for me the second time), and sat and talked with his Yia Yia, and learned about her family and history. We then went back to the restaurant to eat the delicious meal that we had prepared. It was a great day- our favorite experience in our six days on Crete. Highly recommend.
