Dunnerholme Golf Club的点评
点评：This is such an amazing GEM of a golf course hidden away in the top right of England. The drive to the course is absolutely picturesque (although the first map gps on our iPhone took us to a gate at the back of the course, but a quick re-search on maps took us to the correct destination so it was only a minor issue).
The day of golf started with me and my partner asking the “regulars” a couple of questions and we were so blown away by how friendly everyone was! We were told to follow a group to the tee, which as a newcomer, made me feel so relaxed. As we made our way the lady captain came over and explained the layout and some of the rules in a really friendly way making us feel even more welcome! After my game she recommended watching a YouTube video which me and my partner did and had a really good time seeing the course again after playing it.
The course itself is FANTASTIC!! I can’t commend the team enough for how well they keep the course, I played in February and the course is pretty much immaculate, the greens are the best I’ve ever played on at this time of year, they were smooth and had I had a lot of fun reading them.
There are so many holes where you have to think about your next shot and whether you feel like trying to get over a hazard, the hazard placement is fantastic and really makes you plan ahead, luckily I had an app that I could easily look at to see what was up ahead.
The real fun of this course comes in with the par 3s, they have a short par 3 with a relatively large green which I had a lot of fun playing, but the best hole by far is The Rock! And I smelt what it was cooking! I’m not sure how high the green is from the tee but it felt like about 50ft, blind, on to a plateau green with a view to die for! I’m a 26 handicap golfer and that was extremely daunting but in the best of ways, I managed to find the green and after getting my breath back from the walk up to the green, then getting it taken away by the view again, I managed to lag a putt and come away with a par on that hole.
This course is 120 years old and it feels like a great modern day Lynx course, with locals who are as welcoming as you could ever imagine, a team that clearly loves what they do, and just an overall fantastic atmosphere (while we got a hot drink halfway through our game a man came over and had a chat with us, AGAIN making us feel welcome!) this is by far the best golf club I’ve ever been to and if I holiday around the area I will certainly play another game!
