Interesting but disappointing at the same time

点评：We have had this place on our bucket list for sometime and finally made the trip. We left not really sure what we thought of the museum.
First impressions are that it’s extremely overwhelming and claustrophobic - there is stuff everywhere. Some interesting, some not so much. Varies from pretty tame stuff to the absolute extreme (photos of beheadings and FGM which made me feel a bit sick)
As we went along through, the information became less about crime and a lot more about sex and topless women. Think page 3 and playboy.
The upstairs is a let down, it’s literally just full of old newspaper articles, mainly to do with sex. It’s bizarre. I’m not a prude but I was getting a bit fed up of seeing topless women at every turn.
We were hoping for more on true crime. The museum could easily have a cell dedicated to the British “best” of true crime. The Moors Murderers, Myra & Ian could easily fill a cell - why is Myra’s clothes with Linda Calvey?! Fred and Rose West - they could have a cell for just their crimes, especially when they are from 30 mins away.
A cell dedicated to Charlie Bronson would have been good. The Yorkshire Ripper, Peter Sutcliffe, again needs a full cell not just odd bits of newspaper clippings about him. Nothing on Robert Maudsley that we could see. We have enough of our own sickos to fill the museum rather than Daily Sport and The Sun cut-outs!
This museum has the potential to be amazing. There is no need for half a dozen topless signed photos of Jodie Marsh, get rid of all that. And expand on actual true crime. Ok, have a weird and wonderful section with the taxidermy animals, Victorian sex toys etc…
I’d recommend people to go but we wouldn’t return. We spent about 2 hours 30 mins which was plentiful really.

专门为查理·布朗森设立一个牢房就好了。约克郡开膛手彼得·萨特克利夫也需要一间完整的牢房，而不是只关押一些关于他的零星剪报。我们看不到任何关于罗伯特·莫兹利的报道。我们自己的变态已经够多的了，比《每日体育报》和《太阳报》的剪报还要多！
这个博物馆有潜力成为令人惊叹的博物馆。没必要再放上几张朱迪·马什的裸照，把这些都删掉吧。把真正的犯罪内容扩展到其他方面。好吧，可以加一个怪异而精彩的展区，比如动物标本、维多利亚时代的性玩具等等……
我会推荐大家去看看，但我们不会再去了。我们花了大约2小时30分钟，时间真的足够了。
