Excellent Guided Tour of Very Interesting House

点评：Free entry as Historic House Members. The tour of the house lasted an hour 15 minutes and was excellent and very entertaining. The guide also gave us plenty of time to look at the very many interesting and historically valuable items in each room rather than rushing us room to room. Most of the grounds are grasslands with a riverside walk, but very attractive, with small gardens at the rear of the house.
The only disappointment, as many other reviewers have mentioned, was the tearoom. It was empty when we got there (no staff or customers). One member of staff arrived after we had waited a few minutes, asked us to chose a table but then ignored us until we approached him to place an order. The food was nice, but very slowly delivered and ridiculously expensive - 2 slices of quiche and salad, 2 slices of cake, 3 coffees and a tea totalled £42 ! That makes National Trust food prices look reasonable !
