Some interesting 13th/14th century Byzantine frescoes inside this simple Romanesque style church.

点评：The majority of this simple sandstone church appears to have been built in the 13th century, in a Romanesque style, in the same place that an earlier church stood in the 11th century. Some elements of the 11th century church still stand. The bell tower also dates from the 13th century. The facade also features a portico. The building was very well restored during the early 1950's. The church is not large measuring approximately 12 metres by 18 metres.
Internally the church has a single nave with two aisles separated by two sets of arches that are on four pillars. There are a number of apses whilst the main altar is quite simple.
Internally the main feature is the Byzantine frescoes (which were restored in 2018/2019) but which date back to the 13th/14th centuries.
The church sits atop of the cliffs above Muggia and affords fantastic panoramic views over Trieste and the Gulf of Trieste.
There is a large car park and picnic area near the church.
