点评：I have been coming to Portsmouth since 1969, so it's fair to say that I know the place very well indeed. Having said that, the last time I was here was with my dear old mum on a horribly wet day in 2013 en route to catch a Brittany Ferry to Normandy.
Today, I arrived in the middle of a heatwave, with the mercury peaking at 33 degrees C.
The very expensive ticket to see everything is between £46 and £51 for adults, but if you just want to potter about, you can get in for free if you ask for a heritage quarter pass.
That suited me fine as a. I've seen all the ships before, b. the best pictures of HMS Warrior are from the outside and c. HMS Victory is currently undergoing a major overhaul and is covered in scaffolding.
I pottered about the boathouses and the shops, as well as taking some nice photos of the Warrior from the quay.
Too hot to do much else which may explain how quiet the place was, apart from several school parties.
If I had been a first-timer, I would certainly have gulped at the ticket prices, but you do get a lot of ships for your money. Like all these places nowadays, you can return as many times as you like for a whole year.
Really useful if you have travelled from thr USA or Japan.
