Heronswood needs help!

点评：This beautiful garden and house are in serious need of an injection of funds to restore them to their original splendor. Todays visit was disappointing, not only because it was $15 entry (up from $10 in 2022) to see the garden which did not resemble the photographs on Tripadvisor. Sadly there were large areas that needed TLC, pruning, irrigating, clearing out and more. The citrus garden was a collection of trees struggling to thrive without much sign of care.
When I asked at the garden shop why the garden looked so unkempt in places, the answer, was due to the lack of funding. Plus new landscaping is being undertaken which is taking up what funds are available.
I know nothing about how the garden it funded but if it is primarily from gate takings and some profit from the garden shop nothing will improve. The less attractive the gardens, the less visitors etc.
Hopefully this gem on the Mornington Peninsula will not go the way of many enterprises post Covid.
