点评:On occasion, I use my metal detector to locate ( Free of charge, mostly ) lost items all over RI. This search lead me to Lincoln Woods Beach. A quick search for one clients house keys with charm attached and the other a wedding band. As an experienced detectorist, I always dig modestly ( 3-6" ) and replace ALL sand, diet etc so that you will never see evidence of me being there. EVER!
I was there at about 10am on a cloudy day.
for about 5 minutes. Here comes the Park Ranger. Polite but also firm telling me " the Park Director won't allow metal detecting. In case you find an archaeological significant item and that would cause an issue"
I did everything to not laugh stating " Really? The only thing archaelogical here on THIS beach is probably an old buried diaper" Again, the Ranger was very polite and seemed a bit skeptical at the directive from his Supervisor. He knew the rule was misguided and autonomous because other state beaches allow metal detection.
There was no debating that the awful, destructive harmful 3" dig ( facetious ) I was causing gave the Park Director ( not Ranger ) the foolish, misguided idea of not allowing metal detection. It is STUPID ! By the way, thanks to this political bureaucrat, the keys and the sentimental ring for my 78 year old client will remain buried!
Thanks ..... This is the epitome of Rhode Islands inability to allow others the enjoyment of helping others.
Not to worry ..... will find the items ! :)
