点评：House is only open for 3 months a year, Afternoons only, so check the opening dates before you travel! Signposting to property is vague at the end of the village, when heading west, pedestrians were in front of the car entrance, as they were returning from the offsite Walled garden cafe, so go slow and you should see the entrance on the left hand side. The bloke in the entrance hut wasn’t too welcoming, but I noted from other reviews he likes his food and sure enough there was a half eaten sandwich on the desk in front of him. I took a map and walked up to the house, which has a tatty exterior and you end up walking across the front and then across the back of the house to get to the entrance. You can only visit the 8 ground floor rooms and exit the easterly end of the house in a one way flow. Just to the left of the exit down some steps, is a small toilet facility, not a patch on other NT sites. There was a local band playing music outside the entrance our Sunday visit. You can walk around the lake and see various structures, but can’t gain entry to any of them or access the island in the lake. Overall visit takes about an hour for house and grounds walk. If you walk to the walled garden cafe, make sure you get back to the park by 1630 as the gate may not be opened! The walled garden cafe is about a five minute walk, only takes card payment and had not much food left later on. The one concern was using a tea strainer to filter out cream lumps in the milk, in plain view, then attempting to load up a tiny tray with too many cups and plates, which surprisingly caused a spillage, Don’t think we will return there in the future. It’s worth getting up to the mausoleum at the top of the hill, drive or walk, for a great view of the local area.
