点评:A spacious shrine of lord Shiva on the foothills of Biharinath hill adjoining Shivganga pond, free from the clatter and pollution of city – fills the mind with an indescribable joy. Greenness of the hill, twittering of innumerable birds, float the mind into a deep spiritual plane.
But in spite of being a heavenly natural environment, the local admin seems to be apathetic regarding this place. Apart from one ETC (Eco Tourism Center, WB Govt.) and few expensive private resorts, there are no such special initiatives found in tourism.
Tourist from Kolkata can reach Biharinath in a very short period if there is a concrete bridge over Damodar from Burnpur. Presently, tourist have to spend an extra one hour by car to reach here (Via, Dishergarh Bridge).
Main gate of the temple opens nearly 6 o’clock in the morning, whereas the sanctum opens in-between 9 am to 10 am (The Sanctum opens a little earlier on Monday). There are few stalls for puja ingredients and foods into the temple adjacent zone, runs by local villagers.
A beautiful place for a day trip.
