点评:Spend the day, and experience "up close and personal" the past lives of farmers, craftsmen, laborers and peasants on the plains of Austria's heath-lands. You can read about this history, but here you can see, touch and feel it in the extensive exhibitions carefully laid here maximum effect.
This extensive open-air museum, splendidly assembled from mostly private collections, illustrates virtually every facet of life, from agriculture to business, crafts, and the trades, to politics, education, science, faith and family life in an era of very significant social, economic, and political change. It is breath-taking in it scope, with rooms so full of the stuff of ordinary life that it is sometimes hard to take everything in.
Let me mention, too, that just a short walk from the village you will find a branch train station featuring a narrow- gauge railway with several old cars and a reconstructed train depot. The railway opened in 1897, transporting people and goods to and from the village. Its re-creation here, complete with interesting side exhibits, meshes perfectly with the great abundance of historical items in the village.
So what you get is a complete picture of the quality, substance, joys, and challenges of village life in its day.
If you're nearby, don't miss it. Food and drink are readily available, people are nice, and it is very pleasant to stroll along the pathways while learning something interesting with just about every step.
