Grottos Trail的点评
点评：We took the drive from Aspen to see the Grottos ice caves & cascades. Just fyi it’s there’s serious drop off on the narrow road to get there. (See my bottom part about another area to see close by).
The first 200-300 feet is an easy flat walk. Once at the junction go left. Then some climbing and finding your way on & through rocks as the path that is not really marked. Going along the top has a big crevasse so go to right of the mounds of rock tops. You’ll come to a small foot bridge & you can look into the ice caves. Once to the falls you can work your way left & down to the water & for better views. There’s some nature/man made steps down to the water area. The whole area is Beautiful. There was a lot of ice/snow still in the caves & a number of other people hanging out down there so I never went down. On our return we had to stop & let a moose finish eating & move on. Awesome sighting. As we were leaving I was talking to a couple coming. She told me on our way back about 300 -500 feet on the left is a gravel parking area. There’s a great grotto there on the left. You have to get out and walk 100 feet or so towards the edge to see it fully, but it’s worth seeing. It was beautiful and there’s a path that goes along the water with small falls. We would have missed it had she not told me. She said kids go there in the summer & jump from the top areas… as a mom I cringed when I saw it lol
