点评:We visited the Frontier Culture Museum on a bus tour several years ago but the tour didn't give us nearly enough time to fully explore this wonderful place. The big difference here is that the history is ALIVE .. the houses, barns and such are not replicas but were brought brick by brick from Germany, Ireland, England, etc. Fires burn in the fireplaces, crops grow in the gardens, livestock graze and all the while, period dressed staff answer questions and talk you through the work they are doing; black smithing, spinning wool .. one young man told us all about the frontier American exhibit while he dug new potatoes. So unlike other museums where exhibits are laid out behind glass, stiff and lifeless, this place gives you the authentic experience of the periods, the homelands, the progression of America as the various cultures blended together to form new traditions and the blended culture that is America. So we returned on this trip to give ourselves the roughly 4 hours necessary to fully experience this unique living "museum".
