Dreadful Halloween Event…..

点评：We visited the gardens for the first time for the Halloween events in the half term. It was a huge disappointment. Unfortunately it was not helped by the weather, but even on a dry day I think we would have felt let down.
There was no signage in the gardens directing you to any of the activities. Which on a sunny day may not have mattered but in the pouring rain, wondering around a maze of glasshouses for 20 minutes is no fun.
The crafting classroom was small and disorganised. There was a member of staff in the classroom. But they were making no attempt to direct anyone , help them find the materials or show visitors what the activities were. In face they mainly looking at their phone. When we then asked them for directions to the next activity and they were rude and unhelpful.
The spooky pergola had nothing in it bar a few spider webs. This may have been because of the weather but there was nothing to tell us that. So I suspect not. There was a games hut with a few activities but as they had been left out in the rain they were all soaked. I think it was a great pity that despite there being so many empty buildings, greenhouse etc that more wasn’t put on or moved indoors.
Due to the rain the cafe was, of course, busy and so there was nowhere to sit and stay for lunch. Again, given the time of year it might have been sensible to put up a marquee.
Overall this was a really poor event. Given how much competition there is for autumn half term activities and how amazing some of them are, we would never consider returning.
