Wonderful birding on a beautiful mid-coast Maine island

点评：During the 4 day/3 night birding trip we saw 59 bird species - more than I expected. This was primarily due to Casey, our very impressive and patient birding guide, who was an expert at IDing birds by sound. The group of 10 birders & photographers and Kris, the LLBean specialist, were great at finding the birds so that we could see many of them with our binoculars. We walked at a birders' pace before breakfast, after breakfast, and in the afternoon. All walks were optional.
The Whitehouse Island Inn was very comfortable with spacious rooms, a great comforter on the beds, and 3 conversation rooms. Gigi prepared very delicious meals that we ate together at a dining table.
Matt also worked on the island and gave us a brief talk on the history of the island and took us out on a boat tour that allowed us to see some more birds and at least 20 seals lounging on huge rocks at low tide.
Whitehead Island is beautiful - mainly covered in spruce with moss, lichen, and ferns. The shore was rocky. Very peaceful - no man-made noises for 99% of the time.
Kris had a myriad of small items that helped make our days better - e.g. snacks, small took, whistles, headlamps, ...
The guests were all very nice, too. It was a very good group and experience.
