Sad for the animals
Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo的点评
点评：We are avid animal lovers. We own a small farm and rescue horses and other animals. We were so excited to come see the animals and pet them. We left today feeling so sad and almost in tears. The enclosures are so tiny with little to no enriching toys, interactive activities in the cages and very little space to move around. The enclosure for the Serval cat was so tiny and sad. Same for many of the animals. The cockatoo was so starved for attention that it was grabbing our hands and arms through the cage bars and practically begging us to interact with it. Its nails needed to be cut and trimmed so badly. Our hearts broke for this sweet soul…who clearly needed interaction. The mini horses halter was so tight it was leaving indentations in its face and its hooves looked to be turning up as if he had foundered or was in founder.
Although there were signs to not feed the kangaroos directly from the paper cups…we saw everyone feeding from cups, chasing the kangaroos, yelling in their faces (mostly kids) and not one person to monitor any of this.
One girl was freaking out in the Lorakeet enclosure….screaming and scaring the birds and no one asked her to leave or did anything about it. It’s bad enough having animals in enclosures…but improper enclosures make it even worse for the animals. We left here today with very heavy and sad hearts. The golf carts were super fun and a great way to get around. If this establishment ever needs forever loving homes for any of these animals….our farm is always available!
