点评:We attended the Christkindlmarkt on a very cold and windy Thursday in December. We attended in the late afternoon and the market closes at 6:00 pm. We had purchased tickets in advance online.
Most of the displays were indoors, in heated tents and the exhibition hall. But several vendors lined the entrance and sidewalks outside. Most of the exhibits and vendors displayed holiday wares. Some were quite attractive. Prices ranged from very affordable to expensive. Many of the crafts were excellent but some were just trinkets.
The food court was large with long tables set up for guests. Food options were not that great. We also didn't see any vendors selling German style mulled wine or "kinder-punch" which is non-alcoholic. A little disappointing.
The setting beside the old Bethlehem Steel plant was impressive by itself. Repurposing the steel plant as a venue is remarkable. The restrooms in a refurbished plant building were large, clean and convenient.
All in all, no real comparison to German, Austrian, or Swiss Christmas Markets which are free, have wonderful food and beverage choices, outstanding aromas, and numerous regional arts and crafts for sale.
