Stunning Collection in an Amazing New Space

点评：The collection at the Stanly Museum of Art on the University of Iowa grounds was stunning. The new facility is a beautiful space for art. The grounds include some very interesting sculptures before entering the museum. The collection is mainly on the second floor of the building. We spent two hours seeing the works on displayed which we felt was enough time though you could obviously spend even more time taking in collection. The facility provides materials for self-guided tours. The museum has a number of critical works including Jackson Pollock's Mural, and Grant Wood's Plaid Sweater. Miro and Matisse are among the others on display. During our visit, there was a special exhibit of Keith Haring's work including a mural created for a local elementary school. Surprisingly the museum has one of the best collections of African art for a university museum. We were stunned by our visit and would encourage others to spend time at the Stanley Museum of Art.
